"This is a GREAT product" 2010-07-11
By Chief T. (Louisville, KY USA)
I have a Samsung HD TV, an HD Tivo and an Internet capable Blu-Ray as well as a notebook computer that supports 1080 with an HDMI output. I had the Tivo connecting with their wireless adapter and the computer would connect wirelessly but I had no way to connect the TV and Blu-Ray. I saw a video review on this and the Netgear powerline adapters on CNET and thought I would give it a try. I decided on this one because it has four inputs where the Netgear only had one and I would have had to buy a switch, another expense and another box. I really had doubts that is would work on my wiring because it is a older house and the family room where I was installing it was added after the house was built. It was amazingly simple to install. Plugged in the receiver and connected it to my router and immediately had an IP address. Took the remote part and plugged it into a receptacle in the family room and immediately had a connection to the receiver via my house wiring. Connected my devices and they all connected to the Internet flawlessly. My ISP service is 10MB down and 1MB up and I get this consistently on all my devices. MUCH easier than running Cat 5 or 6 cable (at least in my house). I'm over a month into it and not one problem. I highly recommend this product.

 "Works great!" 2010-07-20
By Leah D. Pettit (Boiling Springs,SC)
We needed this because our computer desk had to be across the room for our modem and the computer we have is too old to support a wireless card. We have used this for several weeks now, and it has been great! There is no loss of connectivity. It took only a few minutes for my husband to install. Great product!

"Works like a charm and so easy to install" 2010-07-14
By Matthijs C. Van Soest
We got these because our Directv HD DVR box requires an ethernet connection to be able to use the ON DEMAND functions and our ethernet line comes into the house at exactly the opposite side, on top of that we had trouble getting the HD box on our wireless network, rather than trying to string >50 feet of ethernet cable along the walls we decided to try these. I have to say that despite the many positive reviews I was still somewhat skeptical about it functioning as promised.
However, it was great, plugged one unit in next to the router plugged it into the router and put the other unit next to the HD box and plugged that in. Turn on the HD box and tell it to go on the ethernet and it did, no setup required, no hassle. Beautiful!
We can definitely recommend this product!

"Works, and fits a niche, but not sure how satisfied I am..." 2010-07-09
By THATCH (OHIO)
I use this device to reach a computer that wasn't easily "wireable". Installation was very easy, setup was a snap, but it seems that the two devices are not far from each other, in the same circuit breaker, but still doesn't achieve a very good throughput. Granted, it knows this and gives me a red warning light that the connection isn't good... but sometimes the connection is great!

I guess it must just be other electrical interference entering the lines from time to time, so it is what it is. They do get hot, and aside from the lower throughput than I'd hoped I feel concerned for how long they will last getting that hot on a regular basis.

I wouldn't say not to buy this product, but it is not all that I had hoped & dreamed it would be. I haven't had to wire the area with Ethernet yet, and I don't have any "total lockups" that prevent data from flowing, but I wish the performance expectations were a little more realistic given the other similar reviews I see here.

"Great product for wired connections" 2010-04-19
By Haynes Pressley III (atlanta, ga. United States)
The Linksys PLE300 is a great way to get router connection speeds anywhere in the house. I orignaly bought this set up for Netflix, but found it really helpful for fast connection speeds where my wi-fi is a little slow. Since I have DSL instead of cable this has helped connection speeds greatly. You can plug the satillite anywhere in the house and have fast connection speeds. Setup is easy, but seting up the security setting is a little tricky.

 "Netgear powerline ethernet connection" 2010-07-04
By Ron Miller (Dania Beach, Fl)
We needed a connection from our DSL modem which is in an upstairs office to our Sony Bravia internet-ready HD TV in our downstairs family room. After research and finding much disappointment among users of a wireless device for that purpose, I decided to purchase the Netgear Powerline Adapter. Within minutes of getting the device out of the box, plugging in the cables and setting up the TV to connect, I was receiving Youtube, Netflix, Pandora, Slacker, and others on my TV. This device is trully "Plug and Play."

 "Installs easily, works moderately..." 2010-07-12
By THATCH (OHIO)
If you need an Ethernet port in an area where wireless won't work and you can't get a wire, this is a solution. It is easy to install, however, I have found the throughput swings widely, I'd guess, due to whatever else is going on on the power lines in my house. I've had these installed in an area where they worked well for a year, then suddenly worked very sluggishly with no known reason.

They do produce a moderate amount of heat like a regular router or WIFI device does, and that all being said it's worth consideration if you need a solution, keeping in mind is is a little bit of a toss up whether it will work for you and for how long it may work well given your environmental/power line conditions.

By MCSE_ADMIN (Florida)
I am a techie...both professionally and for a hobbie. And when something just works, it is magic! Used to fight with wireless bridges to get connections to my media center set up - TV, PS3, living room computer. Added these, a switch and all my devices are connected at my full Internet access speed! Awesome!

 "No More Wireless Hassels" 2010-07-03
By Guardsix
I needed something to get my blu-Ray player and my DirecTV DVR on the home network. Wireless was an option but just not fast enough or stable.

In comes Netgears Home Theatre kit. I had already tried two of their powerline devices getting a stable and complaint free connection to my Wife's kitchen computer so I kind of knew this would work.

And did it work beautifully! I took the four port adapter from the box, hooked two cat5e cables between my blu-Ray player and one to my DVR and plugged the box into a wall outlet...presto! I have both devices on my home network. I took the other single powerline plug and stuck it in an electric socket behind my recliner, hooked a cat5e cable between it and my laptop and again, I'm on the home network.

Now I can download movies on demand to my DVR, watch BD-Live stuff from my blu-Ray player and surf the net on my laptop with a great, fast connection. No software involved!

If you want something other than wireless throughout your home, this is the way to go. Easy, quick and trouble free. Buy it!
