 "No Tabs. No Good." 2010-03-09
By ksrp (New York)
Great book? Potentially it was. The lack of tabs (diagram of the notes on the bass) in most sections and examples totally ruins what could have been an outstanding book. The author prefers to illustrate many examples and pieces in JUST traditional musical notation. At a minimum, the author should have presented both notation and tabs and let the reader decide. Some may feel philosophically that one must learn how to read music. If that's you, fine. More power to you. It's not me. I like tabs. There is some value in the book. That's why I borrowed it from the library rather than buy it.

If you desire a beginners book that does give you the option of musical notation OR tabs in many instances check out "Bass Guitar for Dummies." Yeah, I hate the Dummies name too. Don't let that influence you. It is very well done, comprehensive, easy to understand and comes with a CD which facilitates both learning and developing a good ear.

As always...YMMV........

 "great" 2010-04-17
By Dark Arwen (right behind u)
This is not a technique book or a song book. It provides only what that title says it does, which are bass exercies. It provides a ton of ways to practice strength, finger independance (what i really need) and finger dexterity. It's a great book to use to start your practices with. A little bit of this each day will certainly show rewards. I highly recommend.

 "The best sandals ever!" 2008-10-28
By Claudia A. Reynolds (Rumford, ME USA)
I have been buying these sandals for 25 years, when they were called Sunjuns. My first pair came from a Bass outlet store. My second came from a Bangor, Maine store. And this is my third pair. They last. They are comfortable. And they look good. What more could you want??

 "Great Buy" 2010-07-04
By Bob
This bass guitar pack is an excellent buy if your an up and coming bassist. It comes with everything you need to start playing; bass, amp, tuner, picks, dvd. The instructional dvd wasnt too great but it was something to start you off. The great thing about the dvd is that theres a code to there website and you get access to cool stuff like bass tabs and stuff. I would defently recommend this pack b/c i had no problems at all with my order.

 "Broken tone knob" 2010-06-08
By Rod Whittington
The tone knob is broken. It wiggles back and forth. Perhaps it was never screwed in on the underside. Too much trouble to send it back. Otherwise, the bass arrived in good condition.
Electonics, strings and body are well made. All accessories were included.

 "Good for a kid?" 2007-11-21
By J. Tronson
I won one of these (it's white with a black pick guard) and it was my first bass guitar. It was okay to learn on but as I started learning about the bass I started finding all the flaws in this instrument. 2 of the screws that hold the pick guard on were stripped and just fell out within the first week of owning it. The strings are way too high off the fret board even after adjusting the bridge all the way it would allow. The frets are jagged and I had to file them down on either side after cutting my hand and my pants on them a few times. It doesn't hold a tune for more than one session and the neck isn't straight inline with the body. I'm glad I won it because it was a great help in learning to play bass, but no I would never pay for one of these. This is also one of the heaviest bass guitars I've ever held.

"Great Tips from one of the Best" 2009-05-08
By Groove Monkey (San Diego , CA)
This book and the accompanying CD has some great practical information. I have playing Bass and Guitar semi-professionally for almost thirty years. There is information in this book I found most useful. If you are familiar with Gary Willis, you know this is one of if not the best fretless bass player alive today. His approach to the bass in general is simple and easy to understand for anyone from beginner to advanced. The accompanying CD has some nice melodic study. Worth the money get it!

"Great guitar, Guitar Center sucks" 2008-04-22
By Thomas Seiler
I love the guitar, but Guitar Center is about as clueless a company to deal with as I have ever encountered.

1 - I paid for the guitar online with my credit card. The amount was $139. When I got my credit card statement the bill was for $151. Upon investigation I discovered that the extra $12 was for sales tax. That amount should have shown up the invoice I got online BEFORE I authorized the charge.

2 - So I wrote to Guitar Center and complained about the charge and they totally ignored my letter.

3 - Shipped with the guitar was a flyer for 123Music that offered the same guitar for $40 cheaper than I paid for it and free shipping and no tax. I could have bought it from them for $51 less than I paid Guitar Center.

4 - Then Guitar Center sends me spam, advertising the totally worthless extended warranty. I didn't sign up for spam.

Four strikes and Guitar Center is out. I will never buy from them again.
